I purchased my first Sharp Carousel II 32 years ago. The machine was indeed a work horse. It continued to work as expected but the display grew more and more light/faded until I had a hard time reading it. It displayed the time fine but the other options did not display well any longer. With built-in obsolesce which is the case of so many of our modern appliances, the Carousel is built to last. I am hoping my new Carousel will last as long although given my age, I do not expect to be cooking in 30 years because I will probably be dead.At any rate, I needed a new stove and could not use the oven 2 years ago when Covid disrupted the supply lines.. The Carousel saved me. It took 9 months for the stove to arrive and in that time, I do not know what I would have done without the Carousel for baking, roasting, microwaving, etc.The new machine is almost identical to my first Carousel. However, I notice there is no meat probe with this model. The tray is also a wee bit smaller as well. I noticed the two metal cooking inserts for baking, etc. from my old Carousel did not fit in the model I just purchased without bending the legs inward to they would fit given the current rotating tray. None of this is a deal breaker by any means.I do like the stainless steel look of the new machine. It arrived with a slight dent in the upper corner of one side but the dent was not large enough to cause me to return it. (I can't lift it any way given my age so returning it was out of the question once unpacked.)While expensive, it is very handy and a worthwhile addition to any kitchen.
